Downtown Orlando is home to a stunning urban community, with everything from historical homes to new housing developments. If you like a more modern area, there are lots of new developments and modern mixed-use plans that will be fashioned much like the Thornton Park Central complex. This neighborhood is full of restaurants and shops with luxury condos above them.

For those who prefer a single family home to condo living, there are some beautiful old historic homes available. You can check out one of the areas that has already undergone its gentrification processes or a place along the outskirts of the downtown area. Some of the more popular historic districts include Lake Eola Heights, Lake Lawsona, Lake Cherokee and Lake Copeland. Many of these districts have attracted a wide array of residents from the middle aged professional to the younger set.

History of Orlando

Orlando is known internationally as a tourist destination, attracting fifty million visitors each year to its numerous resorts and parks. In all that excitement, it's easy to overlook the city's interesting past. In the 1800s, the area was embroiled in the Seminole Wars, and Fort Gatlin was constructed to shield citizens from attacks. Soon, a city grew around the fort. During the cowboy era, thousands of cattle, ranchers and cowboys crossed the central Florida terrain moving livestock. Those pioneers soon moved to farming, and Orlando became the center of the Florida citrus industry.

Today the city's theme parks attracts over 51 million people annually and its Orlando International Airport is the thirteenth busiest airport in the United States
