Altamonte Springs is a famous landscape in the heart of Florida. Named after a chapel that sat almost alone among orange groves 130 years ago, is now the center of attraction in the northern suburban in Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford metro area of Florida USA. The city is located in Seminole County. The city was founded by Dr. Kilmer Washington of Cincinnati in 1870; he named the city Altamonte a Spanish word meaning “high hill.”
North of Orlando, Altamonte Springs is a thriving suburban city that features excellent amenities, beautiful scenery, and some of Florida’s top colleges. The city has the goal to be innovative and motivated, and wants to offer citizens every opportunity possible. The strong combination of education, business, and recreation make it an appealing place for families who want to stay away from the busyness of bigger cities, but still have everything they need within arm’s reach.
Altamonte Springs was originally settled in 1882 as “Altamonte Station” by a group of Boston businessmen, who bought 1,200 acres of land and built the Altamonte Hotel the following year. Residents renamed the town Altamonte Springs after discovering natural springs in Lake Adelaide.
